debbyski says: "But I would be doing Iraqi women and Zangana's "City of Windows" a disservice by solely focusing on suffering and their role as victims. Because despite the web of destruction, violence and repression Iraqi women face on a daily basis, we must not forget their acts of courage and empowerment despite the hardships they are facing" Each of us needs to ask ourselves, what is the responsibility we bear as citizens of the country which has executed this war? Aah Debby, the heart sinks when one thinks that it's always, since time immemorial, the women, children and animals that suffer the most in war. The Zulus have a saying, "When the bulls fight, the grass suffers". Definitely a book I want to read. It always makes me f eel so insignificant when I hear of how women have to struggle to maintain a normal life and help their fellow women during times of war and strife. It makes me want to do something to help but I don't know what I could do or even begin to try. Vote to end this friggin' war. While I agree with all your comments ladies and am revolted by this kind of horror story, some of us guys are not monsters.Personally I would castrate then set fire to these soldiers myself. My God,can there be such evil in this world? |
