Good tip. It will take long to remember the spelling, won't it? Using KeePass for less frequently used systems is better. The only password I can hold in my head is "swordfish". Marx brothers' "Horse Feathers" (scene in the speakeasy, 42, Elm Street) helps me to remember. thanks What about the squirrel noises? You can't forget the squirrel noises. It's great until you forget that totally random number. Of course, I wouldn't personally do it the way it's described here. I still wouldn't be able to remember the randomized version of the combined words. But even something simpler like DenvWonk89aer should still be secure. The point is, there's no word there that can be looked up in the dictionary or derived directly from knowledge about the user. And I think you could readily memorize that word or something similar. I've been doing something like this for years, although my numbers of choice haven't been truly random, but rather one of a small set of numbers that are personally meaningful (and thus memorable) to me. Another tip: Use words that are not from your primary language, but which express a deeply-held value or call to mind a secret memory. Oh hell, just write the damn thing down, and put in a safe place let's see.....where did I put that, uh.... tattoos anyone? LOL @ dmoonme1! |
