pokkets says: Sometimes words can make you dizzy. While I was making this clip, with reference to Bach, I wondered if anyone has, or will, compose music, or maybe even a song, that sounds the same when played in reverse. Now we have the technology. Navan, Co Meath, Ireland I was sure someone had written palindromic music, I just hadn't looked too far. ( My broadband is being shaped to 64kB-too many GB downloads. It is no surprise that the first example was Irish-thanks righthand. I'll have to have a better look when I get 1500kB back. Sometimes the best place to finish something is at the beginning. Thanks for the email on your ambigram icon pokkets. I thought I'd seen the design before & when you mentioned the book Godel, Escher, Bach I recalled someone giving me that book & would you believe it wasn't more than 10' away sitting face up on an end table? Needless to say I had to go to clipmarks to check on ambigrams & I recall doing some research & coming across this subject a few years ago before I joined clipmarks. I love this community & I've got all sorts of info right here. Just another thought before I leave. Scott Kim did a whole book full f calligraphic versions of these. He was also mentioned in Gődel, Escher, Bach, which also mentions palindromic music (the Crab Canon) and conversations. It's a great book - I've worn out two hardcover copies and am on my third. There's a webcomic panel called Palindramas. You can find it at http://www.webcomicsnation.com/danmazur/palindramas/series.php. |
