This latest move by the administration follows a pattern replicated countless times by Obama since assuming the presidency in January: denounce the lawless behavior of his Oval Office predecessor while continuing, even expanding, the reach of unaccountable security agencies that subvert constitutional guarantees barring "unreasonable searches and seizures."

The difference I see between the way Bush's Administration conducted the electronic surveillance policy and Obama's is that Bush was actually looking out for the safety of the country, while Obama would likely want to spy on all those who oppose his policies. That makes perfect Chicago Political sense.

Bush's policies involved spying on those who opposed him as well. During his administration they spied on peace activists (source: http://bsnorrell.tripod.com/id71.html) There's pretty much no difference.

Only now that Bush is out and a democrat is in office, are many republicans finally agreeing that this behavior isn't right. Somehow, a republican spying on his people is for security's sake, but a democrat, no, it couldn't possibly be for security, HE'S GONNA SPY ON ME!

Don't stand on your party's side against the people in office; figure out what is right and wrong for yourself, and stick to it!!!!!

Spying on your own people without probable cause is unconstitutional and simply wrong.
