It's strange. I feel like I'm back at Disneyland in 1958 at the World Of Tomorrow.

One thing that wasn't mentioned at all was something that could/should be undertaken today, which is better insulation of occupied structures. The tech is out there, but the awareness isn't and the in place market forces prevent it from becoming the norm. Check out KoolCoat, a radiant barrier paint additive as one source of one technology in an array of them which are widely under-appreciated.

One factor for this is the zoning issue. Again, entrenched forces are big obstacles to overcome. As well, contractors are very difficult to convince to employ new tech they aren't acquainted with.
