papananook says: The U.S. has spent about $102 billion on rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan over the last five years. Federal investigators have uncovered about $14 million in fraud. WTF?--there's gotta be a LOT more than that missing or corrupted. Inadvertently? There seems to be an amnesty for war , crimes in general which the administration has no problems with. It seems willing to defend it to he last, but money is involved, and suddenly they get squeamish.. This brings into focus the primary motivation for the war in the Middle East. Money. They know what a profitable business war is. The 'operation' has been laid out so the money goes in the 'right' direction. The Middle East has become a giant virtual reverse laundry. Put clean money in one end, and get dirty money out the other, meanwhile claiming a tax deduction. That is only a little over ONE percent. I'm the last person to take up for government but name another government department that keeps up that level of accounting. Willhelm--was that another joke i didn't get? There is waaay more than 1% gone down the black hole wars in Iraq/Afghanistan---$14 mil is way under the reality. Did anybody else see the pix of the huge empty US embassy in Iraq that they want to REMODEL again to accommodate Gen. Betrayus for another $100+ million after the Billions already wasted. Wait isn't that precious taxpayers dollars wasted, every dollar counts, after libertarians consider paying taxes akin to slavery, so that would make for 14 million chains! |
