Inadvertently? There seems to be an amnesty for war , crimes in general which the administration has no problems with. It seems willing to defend it to he last, but money is involved, and suddenly they get squeamish..
This brings into focus the primary motivation for the war in the Middle East.
Money. They know what a profitable business war is. The 'operation' has been laid out so the money goes in the 'right' direction.
The Middle East has become a giant virtual reverse laundry. Put clean money in one end, and get dirty money out the other, meanwhile claiming a tax deduction.

That is only a little over ONE percent. I'm the last person to take up for government but name another government department that keeps up that level of accounting.
