egsnyder says: You KNOW you're getting old when you can remember your milkman. When I was a kid in Winnipeg, Canada, our milkman's name was Scotty. I can't remember his horse's name. And yes, Scotty delivered milk with a horse drawn ice-cooled van. Many many years ago I pedaled milk door to door for Silverwoods dairy in Toronto. My great-uncle was a milkman. We had a Dutchland dairy right down the street. Along this general topic, one thing I miss when eating out are the cute little bottles of cream served with your coffee. Dad never used cream, so I always drank them. I think my dad was a milkman....jk LOL Yea, skwil! LOL. I always had that same thought. But for real I remember the good ol' milkman seein' I'm at the ripe ol' age of 58. The best part of gettin' the delivery was gettin' to lick the cream off the cardboard lids. And yea, those little creamers were great. |
