AtlLiberal says: I found it eye opening that a majority of self designated Christians chose not to adhere to the central tenant of their religion. What ever became of the "only through me..." part of Christian dogma. Even though I find the whole idea of an afterlife as nothing more than wishful thinking, the idea that a majority of Christians go against the central belief of their own sect is in it's own way, encouraging. I admit to some confusion when it comes to the sample that believes that atheists can also go to heaven. Evidently they are ignorant of the basic definition of atheism. It's unfortunate that this majority has been so hidden while the rabid right wing has garnered so much attention. But that is just the reality of the spotlight these days. If you buy the media's take on things, three atheists speak for the millions of unheard from atheists. Oh well... Science. Very interesting and surprising results. I would not have expected such a large percentage to reject the "our way or no way" approach to getting into heaven. I don't find any confusion regarding atheism when taking the results into account. If believers can accept that God allows people into heaven despite their following "incorrect" religions it is no big stretch to believe that God could allow someone who does not believe in him at all into heaven. www.light-messenger.org The messengers on this website say that we should shy away from organised religions and say that Christ was equal to others such as Buddha, etc., so why should Christians not accept that there are other ways to get to heaven, even being an atheist!! @brightlight4 I took a short excursion to "light-messenger" and it really brightened my day. Not since the 60s have I been exposed to such pure BS. People still buy into channeling? Incredible. Oh well, to each their own... |
