Just one of many sad stories of our troops being used and then cast out when they become damaged goods.

Let's see..., let me get this straight. Our government sends our soldiers off to Iraq and they are ordered to kill, by some estimates, over a million of the poor slobs, then we're surprised and shocked to hear that when they come home all screwed up we expect the same government who ordered us to do all that killin' to take care of them... Sounds kinda fishy to me.

"why should i be proud to be an american"

As an Aussie I'm on the outside looking in, sometimes this can be a good thing, as I don't feel any obligation to feel proud of America. From here I see a clear difference between americans, and, America. You can be proud of yourself and your fellow americans, if you and they strive to do what's right. Speak out against what America does now. Remember, She wasn't always like this. I hope that one day you will be proud of America again, and the world will breathe a sigh of relief.

I think I know the answer. If we were to address the needs of our fellow citizens, such as in this case, somebody might confuse us with socialists, and lord knows we couldn't do ANYTHING, like single-payer health coverage or proper vet care, that would be anywhere near looking like a socialist function. That would be a fate worse than death! No. If you can't pay, die ot live a horrible life. Don't sully our profit sheets with your tears. Your serving duty was only for the ultimate benefit of the corporation, nothing more.

BartendingBear seems to have pretty much gotten it, in my opinion. Until something is done to take away the fact that corporations are considered to be human by law, then humans (not just in America, but all over the world) will always be considered a profit or loss statement, not flesh and blood with fears and emotions.

Thank you all for your statements. They were all very positive. No trolls came to slander. Maybe we will wake up in time. I know we have to if we are to have a great country again.

I agree with Bartending Bear. When leading Republicans describe themselves, they speak of "things" to protect, and the leading Democrats speak of "people".

Not that either party has it totally right in many things. Right now, it seems to me that the wrong people are working with the wrong things to the detriment of American citizens.

How many hundreds of millions are we spending each minute on the war in Iraq?

I don't suppose I should make any blanket statements until I know which party the congressional representative of this soldier and his wife belongs, so I will try to learn more.

Thanks to cptenaud.
