Could this because he is a horrible president?
It could be. Harry Reid's approval rating is 15%. That's lower than Bush. I think Bush is a horrible leader, but I think this has more to do with all of government. Economically we've never been better.

It seems to me there is a feeling in the collective gut of those that are tuned in that our government does not work for the people anymore. Our government, all of it, is owned by special interests, foreign interests, business interests and political interests.

The NeoCon and NeoLib movements will be the death of us.

I've never understood all the fuss with polls. Besides their fickle nature, there is the tendency to selectively use only those results that buttress one's preconceptions.

This particular poll was clipped yesterday by cajoyce. Look at it in more detail. Are you prepared to argue that Truman was one of our worst presidents on the basis of his polling numbers? I won't. Recently, Jimmy Carter called GW the worst president ever -- who had the lower poll numbers? This further clip shows how apt willhelm's analysis is:

Just 23% of Americans approve the performance of the
Democrat-controlled Congress, the same level reported ...

Uhhhh...no.
I agree that all of our governmental officials are influenced by special interest groups. But the immigration issue has trumped even them!

Neocons? Well, personally, I guess I have a lot in common with them and don't view them so negatively. Polls are contrived. I'm still waiting for some Major poll to call and ask *my* opinion. Polls can easily choose a demographic area and receive the numbers they're looking for.

Agree. It's definitely not just Bush. I can't think of a more perfect example of the sad state of politics than the sad group of people who are currently considered candidates to be the next president...democrats and republicans alike.

"Harry Reid's approval rating is 15%."

Interesting lie of omission. While Reid's approval rating is relatively low, what you didn't say is that 66% dislike Bush and 45% dislike Reid. 20% more people DISLIKE Bush than Reid.

The reason: a good chunk of people don't know Reid from an oak tree -- unlike Bush, who merely comes across as being as competent as an oak tree.

I'm not offering an opinion of Reid one way or the other, but your comments were Baghdad-Bobish in their lack of accuracy. Reid's no prince, but people aren't going to say they approve of someone they know nothing about -- thus Reid's "low" approval numbers. It's like asking people if they approve of schmengelpheullfer. If t...

Bush's numbers are exactly where they belong. My only surprise is that it took so long to get there.

None of this has anything to do with Harry Reid. People are judging Mr. Bush on what they feel about him and the job he is doing as president......period.

The man ran out of control because he had 6 years of no congressional oversight. He essentially got away with anything he chose to get away with, including running the justice department as the arm of the executive office in the white house.

He and his cronies lied us into a criminal war which has killed over 3,500 of our youngest and finest, and still counting. He as assumed no responsibility for any wrong doing, and still lies about ...

I with you there, goldstein. I'm not feeling the candidates, either, Rep. or Dem.
