Contrary to Friedman's views, I think many of America's problems stem from trying to be number one. Global dominance should not be a goal. Friedman's complaint that, "Our generals regularly tell us that Iran is subverting our efforts in Iraq" is asinine. It was subversion on the part of this administration to invade Iraq. Nearly every American "efffort" in Iraq has been subversive. Blame Iran for our own botch job? Why not?
