You see, it isn’t that Americans have lost their Christian roots, it’s that Christians have lost their American roots. They don’t know that the American story, and the larger story of Western Civilization, is their story. No wonder they don’t vote. They don’t understand America was and is the greatest expression of Christian values in all of history.I agree. Christians are woefully ignorant of history--particularly our own history. Jesus may never have raised an army, levied a tax, guided a policy debate in a legislature, or administered a government. But He has raised us up to do these things in His name. May we be faithful to His high calling.I disagree. ... You're kidding, right? Or perhaps you choose to believe the first European settlers in America were not Christian. People who practise the basic tenets of christianity are fine. Churches are crap! They should not be allowed anywhere near politics as the loudest squarkers display little idea of what is happening in the real world. If the author of this article thinks the usa is a christian country, ask a few of the people on the role of american companies in the congo, el salvidor etc. Slaughtering people "with god on our side" is still slaughter. Leave politics to the scumbag politicians. Christians should be about changing hearts and minds. However, this does not mean Christians should succumb to the Post-modernists and voluntarily censor ourselves. The Post-modern age of the materialists is growing, no doubt. If Christian's remain focused on the community, the rest will take care of itself. Good article Eaglewings. Too bad the post-modern materialists are so ill-informed, they trash every comment thread with their ignorance. |
