My 17 year old daughter asked me yesterday with her 17 year old boy friend by her side if it would be ok to go talk to an army recruiter. He had been promised $30,000, gi bill, solutions to his problems, and probably the universe if he signed up. I resolutely said "NO! Why would you want to go talk to some immoral person who lies with empty promises? Why would you want to take part in an immoral war based upon lies? Do you know there are more suicide deaths in this war than any previous? Do you know why? Because these people are put in ... Thanks, Maxwell...I try and one of the things that i fight hard about is the recruiting of our children in high school and even Jr high! I'm glad you told your daughter and boyfriend about the truth of war and recruiters. They lie so well and are Pied Pipers to our kids. Shameful, neh? A "lying recruiter" a term very familiar to all, once you're in the service. When I was in the Navy, there wasn't anyone that didn't have a personal story about their recruiter and what they were "promised" and never got. That's why the Code Pink ladies were trying to kick the Marines out of Berkeley...Too bad enough people didn't support her....Teh Marines are the worst at lying but they're all bad.
