Yet another reason to be glad McCain's not president. If the US appeared to back the Iranian reform movement, it would be dead in an instant. McCain still doesn't understand the basics.

This is something the Iranians need to sort out for themselves. The fact that the people themselves realize is positive. Any lasting regime change has to come from within, and not without.

If some change does come out of all this, I just hope that they don't replace a tyrannical regime with another tyrannical regime. Again.

I wonder how McCain would have felt if some other country would have found it necessary to "act" back in 2000.

What would we have said if this had happened in some country in Africa, Asia, South America or the Middle East: "The hotly contested election hung on the recount of the votes from a single province. An attempt at a recount was stalled by the courts, which eventually decided in favor of the candidate who was declared the winner despite having lost the popular vote. Curiously, the governor of the disputed province was the brother of the winner..."

McCain, and most of the GOP leaders, are nothing but old fools whose age has long past.
