Djiezes says: I find it remarkable that atheists are viewed almost as badly upon as Scientologists. I find it remarkable that people give a shit what I believe. What people believe is very important as it affects how they live. Beliefs drive action. As for how atheists rank--pretty sad.......cuz atheists rock Djiezes, did you watch the interview with Jason Beghe? I'm surprised that the evangelical and fundamentalist's negatives aren't higher! I have zero negative thoughts about atheists. I *do* marvel that they can live in this world and not believe that there is a *something* that brought the entire world and it's perfect environment into existence where "life" has been sustained for eons. I haven't, and I didn't know about it until just now. Did you see it? Is it interesting? I'm dismayed at how poorly Americans view Muslims. It's like where we'd be if Timothy McVeigh and Pat Robertson had formed the world's views of Christians. Our view of Muslims, and of Islam, is almost as ignorant and degraded as was the white view of Native Americans when white people came to this hemisphere. This idea that Islam is a religion of violence is simply bogus; Muslims are less likely to see violence against civilians as justified than Christians are. I'm an evangelical Christian pastor, and I deeply regret the hostility and ignorance that we Christians have often shown Muslims around the world. I haven't, and I didn't know about it until just now. Did you see it? Is it interesting?I think it is really interesting. I liked that he hasn't been out very long and talks at length about the David Miscavige years, and how they kept reforming the techs, basically to "answer" why the techs weren't working (OT 8s not being able to control MEST with their minds, etc) and to make more money. It is long, it comes in 8 parts. I watched it here. They took it off of YouTube. Our view of Muslims, and of Islam, is almost as ignorant and degradedOur view of any foreign culture is ignorant and degraded. We force freedoms onto people that are often quite satisfied with their world. We have very little tolerance for anyone elses cultural traditions unless it fits into our little exotic boxes we built for them. That does sound about right. I'll definitely take a look at it. Thanks for pointing it out. Hmm, skwirl, good point. |
