"In an interview Dr. Linde described these brains as a form of reincarnation. Over the course of eternity, he said, anything is possible. After some Big Bang in the far future, he said, “it’s possible that you yourself will re-emerge. Eventually you will appear with your table and your computer.” Wow..what a crazy world we live in. Cool! It's wild and crazy TN! Great fun! What's this? Logic and science supporting the mystical insights of thousands of years?(a year, of course, like time itself being an illusion_. logic and science supporting the mystical insights of thousands of years?YES. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Maybe our conception of time and matter is way off base, us humans have been know to screw a few things up along our journey. Ever see a house cat carry a wrist watch?LOL I once had a book, Time, by Samuel A. Goudsmit, Robert Claiborne, and the editors of Life., which had an interesting demonstration on why time moves forward instead of backward. Unfortunately, that book went missing from my library many years ago and I don'trecall the explanation. If you want to look it up, its call number is QB209.G6. If time were to run backwards, so too would our thinking processes, we would not notice any difference. If the statistical nature of Quantum Theory is correct, Bell's Theorem notwithstanding, then there will be instances of entropy reversal, time running backwards, at least on the particle level. Speaking of Bell's Theorem, I'm sure Righty would love to know that John Bell was a native of Northern Ireland. This was the man who gave us the means to prove that the universe is far stranger than most people could ever imagine. If the statistical nature of Quantum Theory is correct, Bell's TheoremSay what baby? Quantum Theory doesn't allow for experiments on a single entity, but on an ensemble of particles, if most particles are observed to follow a certain behavior, then that behavior is considered an acceptable result. The other results not recorded may include wildly different behavior by single particles, including going backwards in time. The lack of absolute precision in the Quantum world seems to be the way it really is. I should not have mentioned Bells Theorem, it's way way way too complicated. However, to discover the real magic in our world, anyone interested in this stuff should look it up and invest a little time. It's worth it. Entropy reversal simply means energy flowing from cold to hot instead of the other, normal, way @Jorjor: the explanation for your book going missing is that I stole it next year. In two weeks I will have remorse and return it to you last month. hahahahahhahaha, good one abailart! Maybe Descartes should have said I think before I am. If something is true it will happen whether we discover it or not. Time can't be seen on it's own. it is part of a package. If we created a field that meant we could reverse time, would there be a loop that involves gravity? Absolutely. We are just products of our environment, who insist on meddling with things that are completely beyond us to our disadvantage. There should be a TV show The Cosmos DIY Home repair kit It would be handy to have the first run with some continuity, so we can be more free with our time the next time aroung. Do we unscramble the egg? Or wait until the next time around, and make sure we don't drop it |
