The article points out that because al-qaeda is such a splintered group, with pockets of their terrorist everywhere, and practically worshiping death, they are not bothered by the concern of retaliation. Their #1 goal is destruction of us and our civilization....as Bin Laden sits in his cave.

I don't think so. Ahmedinejad doesn't speak for Iran - he's not the Commander-in-Chief; and the real heavies have shown no interest in starting wars with anybody for over a hundred years.
Second, what does al Qaeda do with a bomb if it gets one? You can't carry one on the bus.
This is a problem that made me suspicious of the Bush claims about Iraq having such a weapon - they had no delivery system, without which the bomb is useless.
Finally, seems to me al Qaeda would have a much easier time coming up with a nuke in Pakistan, where they can easily blend in, than in non-Arab Iran.
