These are so-called fainting goats.
A fainting goat is a breed of domestic goat whose external muscles freeze for roughly ten seconds when the goat is startled. Though painless, this generally results in the animal collapsing on its side. The characteristic is caused by a hereditary genetic disorder called myotonia congenita.
The clip was taken from this news video, which explains everything and is highly worth watching.

Thanks Kore7. I have seen this video before in an email and found it disturbing. I figured there had to be a reason for it. I actually felt sorry for them.

I think it's both hilarious and shocking (and apparently harmless). It just looks so unnatural to see the cute little goats go belly-up like that with their legs in the air.

Though I'm sure flailing the umbrella at them never gets old, it is a bit gratuitous, isn't it?
