I forget words, but not the same words. But I understand the thought pattern the study is explaining as I have difficulty spelling the words necessary and vehicle, even thought I use these words constantly when typing. *I just spelt vehicle wrong again before correcting it. I seriously disapprove of studies like this being publish (not you wildcat, the so called science people). Why can't scientists be sure of something before their latest inclination is used for some journalist to fill space with. Probably like most people 60 years of age or so, I have heard so many studies saying one thing only to hear of another disproving it and so on that studies are greeted by me as I would being given counterfeit money. Scientists are human, but it would be nice if as scientists they would be more scientist and less human subject to the temptations of attention etc. This particular finding is not only unverified, it actually goes a distance toward teaching a sense of ... Well that kills the "Because I'm Drunk" theory. On learning and retaining the information: When I have to learn something I find that writing it out in my own words is very effective. In school I took many, many more notes than everyone else. I don't know how I developed this ability but it works for me. Perhaps it is the constant proof reading that sets the info into my head. On repeat failures assisting in the learning process: I have found that the failures are only the beginning of the learning process. When I am learning a new task or routine I often fail a few times and change my actions accordingly. Once I successfully master the routine according to instruction I continue to work on it to make it more efficient and less superf... I find that writing it out in my own words is very effective.That really works for me too, Skwirl. |
