Good thinking. To my mind, the most common consumer-side energy source in the future will probably be the battery. What we need is clean energy to charge them.
This is also a step toward getting off coal. Everyone accepts that we've got to get off oil, but coal burning remains an unmentioned problem.

The Iraq war has probably caused more carbon damage that five nations. And just think how many of us would be alive today if we were not dependent upon oil! It is a dinosaur, and we'll go down with it if we don't pay the price to turn a different direction.
