einbar says: 'Reading a good book prepares you for real life. Scientists have found that, far from being a way to avoid reality" Excellent clip! Reading a good book is also a good way to stimulate your mind, relax you, educate you and many other things. There is still nothing better than relaxing with a good book. I hate it when I am reading a book and somebody assumes that I am not doing anything. The conversation always goes something like this: Me reading. Person sees me and asks "What are you doing?" "Reading" I respond without raising my eyes from the page. "Oh, well the most interesting thing happened to me today...blah,blah,blah, blah!" Did I mention I hate that! I find what I read equips me and helps me cope with life .books can be quality companions, they purvey a lot of useful information that otherwise would take a lot of energy to get @Ratilfar....I totally understand what you mean.... POP! The reading group I go to is part of a wider UK project which researches and promotes the setting up of reading groups for everyone. Very positive benefits are being indicated generally, and particular studies are looking at separate groups such as dementia suffers, offenders, disaffected young people, people in drugs rehab, mental health service users. This is a wonderful clip. Many thanks. I totally agree! But it's a dangerous theme! Who says young people, what a good book is? And not only young ... Hundreds of years there was only one book - AND THIS WAS GOOD! lectio divina cool stuff but i dont believe in it.. |
