Doesn't she know the war is ending and the troops are beginning to come home??

I would not be surprised if she -does- know, and is just making a big noise so as to try to convince less attentive folks that she and her ilk were instrumental in the decision.

"See? I urged them to do that, and they totally did it! "

Or is that too cynical a possibility to consider?
