if they are sucking the life and finances out of their parents, I see a point in getting them out- but not by giving them a handout!
If they are contributing to the family and home finances,I see no reason to separate them though.

Isn't the goal of parenting to raise self-supporting, independent human beings?

Maybe not a hand-out, but a "push" out???

In independence driven societies, yes, but I don't think that the value of extended family living arrangements can be emphasized enough especially when there is financial turmoil in much of the world.

if you pay them to leave, that isn't much of a push- more like a bribe, I think.
