I've got 3 kids - all boys so can't offer any personal insight into gender differences - good article though.

I can however share the following which may raise a smile - my 2 year old's best 'mistakes' are;

1. 'gay bar' rather than 'skate park'
2. 'cidermen' rather than 'cybermen' - Dr Who reference for those not in the know

ghiberti, that gives a new meaning to "yesterday I went to the gay bar."

funny comments! It's actually quite amusing as i watch my 2 1/2 yr old daughter get a handle on the speaking/grammar. As for now, i fine the confusion of tenses so adorable- but it's interesting to know there's some fact behind it.

From one of my linguistics courses at uni...a cute textbook example of grasping syntax

Mum and kid at the mall.
Mum: Do you want to go on the escalator?
Kid: No, I want to go on the escanow!!
