really? do we need ANOTHER advancement in how we listen to music..?? I'm a BIG music fan, and i am more than happy with how the sound is these days...

I tried to refrain myself, but to no avail I'm going to go ahead and geek out here. A glass CD would do absolutely nothing for sound quality. A CD delivers digital data, the same way that your hard drive, thumb drive, etc would do.

Data on a standard CD is stored at in industry defined "good enough" rate of 44100 samples per second at 16 bits per sample, with 2 channels of audio (stereo).

Glass or plastic doesn't matter, as long as the data is read in correctly, which it is either way. "High Definition" audio, recorded at higher bitrates or sample sizes, and in more channels might have a superior sound (and is easier to work with when recording) but in general, the average person can't hear the difference.
