...then congrats and thank you to everyone who participates on the site. i can't say that i use digg much so i don't really have a basis for comparison, but either way, what Kazu says about the clipmarks community is right on!!

I have an account on digg. I started out by checking it constantly but after a few days of reading comments I don't think I want to be part of that community. Rude and Pompus is how I would catergorize digg. I use digg in my Greader for links only.
My opinion- JACKASSES

kmcolo: you're just too dumb to understand. why don't you go digg yourself!

jfriedland: love you!

skwirlinator: you're always "the skwirl" to me

Godfrey: you're the exception to the above. go back to digg.

Guillaume: if you can't beat em join em...somehow i keep looking over at the Hot Clippers list and seeing yours truly at the top. not sure you've made it there yet!

anyone else have anything nasty to say, digg it on!

Climparks ? Hmm it's actually a great name, you should think about it Eric. Better than Clusty anyway.

Just so everyone knows, I just spoke with eric about his last comment and he thinks it's obvious that it was all in good humor, but I wasn't so sure. On the other hand, I can be somewhat stale at times so maybe it is obvious.

Goldstein, I am noticing and appreciating your new confidence in your wit, and the resulting restraint with the smilies.

oh Godfrey...to be loved, to be loved!!!!!!!!!!!!
(think eddie murphy in Coming To America singing that out his window)

just to preempt the response by anyone who does remember that scene...i think the next line in the movie was by a neighbor who yelled "shut the f-ck up!"

Problem is, once clipmarks become popular, more of digg users type will be around,, so, only way is, don't tell anybody about clipmarks. (eric wants to kill me)

essamz, i would never want to kill you...i've said too many times on this site that we must learn to work out our differences peacefully, so i can't go back on that now

regarding what you said about how things could change once clipmarks becomes more popular, i am definitely worried about that too. my hope is that we are establishing a sort of "clipmarks way" that is spreading naturally and slowly enough that it sticks. there is no question in my mind that this has been the case thus far, and all we can all do is continue to do our best to see that it remains this way.

should it ever begin to go bad, we will make every effort to enable people to have their own groups of clippers who t...

Exactly! Civility is a virtue we all used to be taught, but seems to have been lost lately in other venues. Those who disagree with me here, have been civil, if short. Clipmarks has a great start, let's work to keep it above the fray.

Also, a voting system for replies similar to slashdot can help in filtering stupid and irrelevant replies, and making it default to hide replies with specific threshold of negative votes

I am against any voting-pro or lapidating comments system. Everyone deserves same chance to be listened.

I agree with Eric, that when more users jump aboard, some filtering will be - perhaps - needed. At the moment, conversation here is on a really high level - something you don't see on Digg.

I'd like to be able to block bad comments on a per comment / per user base. I don't think a rating will make sense here, but i'd just like to have some influence on what i will read and from which authors and from which not...

Slashdot (and now Digg) had to implement their comment-rating systems due to immense popularity and the need to let the best content rise above the rabble. It sounds elitist but I consider it a pragmatic compromise. Eventually, CM will have to do something similar.

On a side-note...I love the great words I've found here on the Clip. Keep 'em coming.
