After the death of this second dolphin, the number of Blind Dolphins between the Sindh Guddu and Kotri barrages has fallen from a total of 821 to 819. The appearance of these dead dolphins at different locations off the Indus River, reveal that a major environmental disaster has hit the protected Indus River Dolphin Reserve, which is also a Ramsar site. </blockquote><div style="height: 2px; font-size: 2px; background: #dcdcdc; border-bottom: solid 1px #f5f5f5; margin: 2px 4px;"></div><blockquote style="text-align: left; padding: 0px 8px; margin: 4px 0px 8px 0px; background: transparent; border: none;" cite="http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2008%5C12%5C18%5Cstory_18-12-2008_pg12_6"><DIV>Even though, this is the second dolphin that was found dead within a week, the Sindh Wildlife Department has not made any efforts to discover the causes behind the deaths of these dolphins. Experts of a local environment organization, Ideal Rural Development Organization (IRDP), disclosed that the dumping of highly contaminated toxic waste, including chemical waste from tanning industries in Punjab, can be held as a possible reason for the deaths of these dolphins. </DIV></blockquote></div><div style="margin: 0px 6px 6px 4px;"><table style="font-size: 11px;border-spacing: 0px;padding: 0px;" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tr><td style="background:transparent;border-width:0px;padding:0px;"> </td><td align="right" style="background:transparent;border-width:0px;padding:0px;width:107px" width="107"><a href="http://clipmarks.com/share/B88F5734-0E37-417C-863C-4AF51BBA770B/blog/" title="blog or email this clip"><img src="http://content6.clipmarks.com/images/c2b-foot.png" border="0" alt="blog it" width="107" height="17" style="border-width:0px;padding:0px;margin:0px;" /></a></td></tr></table></div></div>
