Republicanism is an ideology by and for bullies. But not the kind of bullies who have the guts to get in actual fights, even if the deck is stacked in their favor. No. They hire people to do their fighting for them.

How many prominent Republicans ran out and enlisted after 9/11? How about before the Iraq war? Which major Republican pundits were cops? Not a goddamn one. Why? All talk, no action.
They're the kind of bullies who love to pick on anyone at the lower end of the economic ladder. It's what weak, shitty people do.

The clearest explanation I've seen yet

when TR spoke of "the bully pulpit", the less educated masses thought he meant the party in power should become bullies, pushing around anybody who couldn't defend themselves but kissing the hindquarters of anyone more powerful, both at home and abroad. the end result of this misunderstanding is the current republican party, where if you have WMD, we won't touch you, but if you don't we will say you have and attack you; or if you have a lot of money to spend on campaign funding you will get blank checks written on the federal treasury, but if you actually need the money, you don't get any.
