Edward Gorey's nursery rhyme, with appropriately morbid illustrations, is a ghastly alternative to the usual:

A is for Amy who fell down the stairs.
B is for Basil assaulted by bears.

Definitely not for the warm-and-fuzzy types, but amusing and well-illustrated, nevertheless. Complete with Spanish translation.
