Both of these men said that were Christians. Do you not think he should ask them what that means to them. If they were both Muslim or Wiccans do you not that it would be ok to ask them what that meant in their daily lives? And seeing how 75% of people in the US consider themselves Christians, I think that asking them questions about their faith is very appropriate. ss...don't you know it's a sin to be a Christian in America now-a-days? or even in the World? I just listened to a prayer that FDR gave, publicly, during his term as President. It's amazing to me how the course of America has changed. And can anyone say that our Country is better, more stable, more unified, more strong...now? I believe the point is more, why does it have to be in the limelight at all? Why should what it means to be a Christian or any other religion be a focal point of a Presidential campaign for a legally secular nation, regardless of the majority? Oh, jatfla, it's not a sin to be a Christian in America. It's simply that non-Christian faiths are getting the same level of equality more often, as it should be, and some Christians are uncomfortable with that. pop for wiccantexan's last comment Amen to wiccantexan, also! Let's just leave religion out of politics, please...It was our current Idiot-in-Chief who said God told him to invade Iraq, fa Chissakes! Either God got it wrong or Booosh is delusional. A big Danger zone when any kind of religion gets mixed in with governing a country. I don't care if 75% of 'Mericans are so-called Christians...So what? Seems strange that when the separation of church and state got to be big we started seeing More pregnate teens, more gang violence, more incest, more behavior issues in schools, reduction in patriotism, self-esteeme issues increased, more children on behavior drugs, less community driven events, colder consumerism, increased lawsuits, and so on... Religion in Government is a vital moral control that maintains checks and balances against totalitariansim. As a society we must embrace religion in our government and use its fundamentals to become a moral reponsible community. We let corruption, greed and murder control our country long enough - perhaps we need religion as a control measure. swirlinator, do you have hard statistics to back any of that up? And what do you define as proper "religion in Gov't?" I seem to recall seeing statistics that showed that crime, teen pregnancies, drug use, and many other similar problems declined during the 1990s but are starting to rise again in the current decade. If I find the time to dig 'em up, I'll post links. "We let corruption, greed and murder control our country long enough - perhaps we need <delete>religion<delete> THE CONSTITUTION as a control measure." The Constitution mentions religion in only two places: the first amendment (establishment clause) and Article VI, paragraph iii: The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.I've said it before, but it always seems to need repeating, that just because the Constitution forbids a religious test to qualify for office does not keep the court of pu... Shit, I figured I would stir the pot with my comment. Personally I feel people are getting pussified more and more as time goes on. Religion or not - What we DO NEED is a revival of values, not just in the family but in the community and the government @skwirlinator So, that's how someone with "values, not just in the family but in the community and the government" speaks? Using words inappropriate for minors in a forum that they have access to? Good example! I think if the precious little snowflakes are on the internet they are reading far worse than what I wrote. I am not an example. I am just me. I am a failure at life and I don't live to anyones standards but my own. I don't claim to have the answers and I am not a statesman. If you don't agree then that is your prerogative. My opinion is my own. I wrote what I see and what I think. If you don't like it - tough. Since this is your clip and I am the guest I will stop. I wasn't trying to get your goat. I am sorry if you were offended. If you know me You then know I don't purposely try to offend anyone. I will leave this clip with a pop. Sometimes life gets in the way of my judgment. Someti... "What we DO NEED is a revival of values, not just in the family but in the community and the government"I was just making a point. What you said above is a "nice" idea, but the question then arises: "Who's values?" Government should concern itself with law and not legislating "values or morality." Law should be about one party hurting another party in a very physical way. We need to revive a love for our constitution and the laws of our country, not "values" or "morality" which are very subjective. |
