thisnamecantbetaken says: Terrible. The three victims were men in their 20sI wonder if that has any significance or is just a coincidence? Hmm... Just targets of opportunity I would think. bad bad tiger. in spite of the harsh residence and the not so brilliant curriculum vita, i thought Tigers and Humans 2b on the way to make it a better world together ... )) in humane eyes it's simply sad. in nature eyes - is it a proof 4 no chance to bypass the nature of the beast ?? Cats only kill if they are hungry or threatened. Sounds like human error to me. Most accidents, whether in the air, water, and ground are blamed on that. Human error is what I am basing my conclusion on; What is your thoughts TN? Besides BEER My guess is the victims tried to run. Felines will attack anything that moves, hungry or not, as anyone who has ever had a kitten, knows. Having escaped, the tiger was probably stressed out too, which wouldn't have helped the situation. I think this whole situation WAS due to human error though, in the sense that the enclosure was clearly not sufficient. The tiger did, what tigers do. Had I been in this situation, I was have stood as still as I possibly could. No guarantees you wouldn't get attacked anyway though, if you happen to be right in it's way. I also know, felines are extremely good at "remembering" past abuse. I have seen cats who only fear men, or children, or redheads or coats w... It's just a prison break, or how would YOU behave, if some aliens held you prisoned for lifetime? Good point! Like with some elephants in circuses who suddenly lose it. Abuse or have they just had enough? Wild animals will always be just that. Wild. TN Lets talk about the deceased tiger, not your stalking techniques, Most people do not know that a tigers stripes are skin deep. This whole episode is SAD. Remember the movie that is a true story about the lions preying on railroad workers in Africa? I think Val Kilmer was in it. Just cats being cats, easy food source. Can not blame them, only the lack of security for workers. It all comes back to human error. I remember. They were the "ghost lions of Tsavo" who killed over 135 people. Maneaters in the truest sense of the word. http://www.geocities.com/marulaslair/ghost1.html TN You are a wealth of information, with all that shooting, a cat does have nine lives. I wonder how many pair of undies had to be changed. I also doubt the grieving family would find comfort in hearing that had he only known how to react when faced with an angry tiger, he would still be alive.No-one said that at ALL. Don't twist my words. Merry Christmas, by the way. Hi, alan... Your comments are right on. This story makes me sick! I agree with you about zoos. I always feel guilty when I go to one, but, I think kids need to see some animals in 3D to appreciate and respect them. Mixed emotions and opinions on that. Happy New Year, tn, alan, michelle, and all clippers! I saw on the news that it seems the boys were tauning the tiger. There were footprints on the railing. The boy's father made a comment to the effect that it was a tragedy for people & animals. What a shame that so many people have no respect for the other beings on this planet. Sad story all around. Sad indeed, not only for lost life, the injured, dead tiger ,zoo keepers, and police officers that was put in harms way, that really regret shooting the animal. The truth will slowly come out. May God Bless the tiger, The injured and deceased, the families, zoo keepers, and the officers that had to respond. There is a fine line between us and animals; but animals only attack when hungry, protecting babies, or provoked. Maybe some brain disorder; but that would be rare. Tiger may have scaled wall in zoo attack - expert: "A Siberian tiger on its hind legs could reach up to 11 feet, Tilson said, adding that the female Siberian at the San Francisco Zoo may have jumped another foot to latch its front paws on the lip of her exhibit's wall. That would have provided enough support for the powerful 350-pound cat to push itself up the concrete wall with its hind legs, Tilson said." "..speculation that the men might have taunted the tiger." "Police found Sousa dead at the scene. They shot and killed the tiger after it chased down the brothers." http://www.reuters.com/article/wtMostRead/idUSN28371903 TN Human error, that is my story and I am sticking to it. There was not any reason for that kitty try to get out, unless let out, provoked, with young ones, or hungry. Only two of the above is an answer. What a waste of mankind and a beautiful feline. |
