arifsali's statement is true. After all, who is it that preaches the hate? The moderates, the liberals?

It is the fundamentalists, both Christian and Muslim, that preach, teach, and act out the violence against others based on their religion.

So, if ultraconservatives and fundamentalists would have their rule, our freedom to pursue our own happiness is gone! And gays would likely be incarcerated or hanged.

If the comment by arifsali is rhetoric (as in persuasion) it is at the hands of the ultra conservatives - religious right extremists themselves. It is by their own actions this opinion is drawn and viewed by so many. While there is diversity in any group, it is usually flagrancy that speaks for the group in the eyes of many and the media.
