if the speed of light exceeds itself, then wouldnt that still be the speed of light? perhaps the speed the light in the vacuum isnt the full potential speed... maybe wat we thought as speed of light was incorrect..? maybe i'm wrong.. lol

I did major in physics and this is crap. Nothing can exceed the speed of light. If i recall correctly to push something that fast would require an infinite amount of energy and doing so would send time into reverse...

If you read more into this article and know a little bit more about physics, you will understand that they have not broken the speed of light. There are two velocities to consider when you look at light. There is the phase velocity and the group velocity. In this case, the phase velocity is increased since the light is exposed to a medium with a negative refraction index; the phase velocity is allowed to exceed the speed of light since it does not carry any information. Going through the medium, it was out of phase with other components. Once the light arrived in phase, it was on the other side. The actually "wave packet" didn't actually travel through this medium hence the group veloc...
