Americans are the victims of agitprop. Unfortunately, it is others who suffer for our ignorance.

Peace.

it's circular. the media is there to sell soap. they hate to tell people anything they don't already know. so Americans never hear moderate voices, so the media doesn't have the guts to tell them.

The subjects desire was seemingly to put on blinders and be AGITATED by any mention of the unfortunate realities in today's world.

An open-minded approach might have been to say, --<"Not to discount or ignore these concerns and painful realities of which the caller asks, but just for this discussion I would like to focus on reminding listeners and educating them on the glorious history of the Muslim religion and the many positive contributions made in the name of Islam. I share these concerns but I want to spend this time today in effort to keep balance in world opinion regarding Islam and its troubled overall image. There is so much good that gets overlooked and not taught among the noi...

It is guys like that who further inspire people to do research and educate themselves on the Islamist history of violence and death in the name of politics intertwined with religion. These guys actually inspire people to uncover the negative sides of Islamism for themselves - in spite of their efforts to demean those who would inquire about them good-naturedly and with well-meaning heart.
Rather than using the psychological gamesmanship with terms like "Islamophobia" in tones of superiority and disdain, it seems it would be more effective to face reality square in the face, accept and acknowledge factions and movements among people, the deeds they commit, thus finding it a smooth, obvious path ...

All those words and not a single fact among them, davboz becomes a prime example of this clip. Good work!

I don't think so either.

I kind of agree with davboz, that if the guy had a "little voice in his head," he should have said something. As a person who had the acess to numbers of listeners, he should have been a voice of reason. He just contributed to the "spell" by not challenging it more forcefully.

Did you listen to his podcast on exactly how he answered that listener, and then, read his blog to see what kind of point is he making? The spell exist because of the exact such causes of selective listening syndrome.

No I didn't listen to the podcast @ first. My computer is a POS and I couldn't get it to load. Although after having a chance to listen I do agree that he was very clear in his explanation of Islam. Just reading the article, it made it seem like he did not really express what he wanted to say to the listener.

Yes? This may help explain why it is that
Islamic cultures (all of which started out
from pluralistic non-Islamic civilizations)
are everywhere today a monolithic Islamic
mind-control culture where even the mere
expression of a possible change of religion
is instantly punished by death (and where
children are encouraged to murder their
parents, brothers, and sisters ... and it is
demanded of parents they murder their
children if they stray from Islamic law).

Today only a few Christian souls remain of
what was an Egypt whic...

Better chill on this, friend - there is no way to substantiate it, including use of anecdotes from extremist situations. It's akin to calling the KKK or the Oklahoma City bombers typical of Christianity.
The best set of facts on what Muslims really believe around the world (and, in fact, the only serious study of its magnitude) has been recently completed by the Gallup organization. Here's a bit on it: What a Billion Muslims Really Think.
