Doesn't the idea of carrying a gun go against the teachings of Christ? Doesn't god protect his own people? I think you are missing the irony of a situation where people under the protection of god, in his own house, need to protect themselves.

It says a lot for the hypocritical nature of religion and the protective power of the god it worships. Even if you argue against god intervening and stopping a bullet, then you must content with "his will be done". If death leads you to heaven, then what's the fuss?

Mmm, well personally I see a difference between religion and belief in God. I believe religion is corrupt and devoid of real belief. But I do understand what you're saying, it does show a hypocrisy in religous teachings.
