einbar says: Looking back at the surveillance all around us--from wiretapped phones to security cameras "some would argue, necessary security? Or have governments and concerned parties crossed the line into prying and paranoia?" patriot act. *vomit* next we'll all be wearing electronic id's on our person! Maybe like the Biblical beast, its mark on your head or on your hand.....hehehe "Real ID", coming to a motor vehicle office near you if the NeoCons have anything to say about it. Some states are rejecting it, thankfully, but we'll have to see how all of that plays out. The RFID in the proposed license will make us all trackable. Well, if you chip your kids they'll get free ice cream!! http://digg.com/world_news/Hey_kids_Get_Chipped_and_get_a_free_ice_cream The RFID in the proposed license will make us all trackable. If you use a GSM capable cell phone you are already trackable to within 300 feet. Some phones are far more accurate that that. I've read user reports of 10' accuracy. I don't use such a phone. Only the military/DOD has 8-12" accuracy. Civilian use is restricted to about 50 ft but can increase to 328 ft. Selective availability GPS includes a (currently disabled) feature called Selective Availability (SA) that can introduce intentional, slowly changing random errors of up to a hundred meters (328 ft) into the publicly available navigation signals to confound, for example, the guidance of long range missiles to precise targets. When enabled, the accuracy is still available in the signal, but in an encrypted form that is only available to the United States military, its allies and a few others, mostly government users. Even those who have managed to acquire milita... I was mistaken. It was assisted GPS I saw referenced. |
