adamc says: Though some will say this was poor timing, I believe that Coretta Scott King would have wanted it this way. Our President went to the funeral, spoke kindly and reverently about her and her life and this rude "Reverend" and misguided ex-President have to make political hay and get their few seconds in the news. Pathetic! Adam, your comment doesn't speak very well of your opinion of Mrs. King. When I first saw the article I thought along the same lines as jatfla, but as it sank in I began to see the possibility that she would have been proud to have provided such a visible platform upon which her supporters could spread her beliefs. That said, I don't necessarily condone the actions of Reverend Lowery and President Carter, and not knowing King or her family it certainly isn't my place to say whether she would have condoned it. Maybe it's that I 'hope', rather than 'believe' this to be true. Isn't what Lowery said true? "For war, billions more, but no more for the poor!" Bush currently wants to cut Medicaid, food stamps, and the Upward Bound program. Meanwhile, the costs of the invasion and occupation of Iraq have exceeded the administration's original estimates. It's undeniable where his priorities lie. gee, and i thought his priorities were exploring alternative sources of energy. you mean that was just a one-liner for the state of the union? Well, if it makes you feel better, you could say he's prioritizing tossing off one-liners about alternative sources of energy. That seems pretty obvious, priorities are to make his friends in oil and war business make huge amounts of money. "exploring alternative sources of energy." Does invading Iran count? I also hear Russia has large untapped Oil reserves. If we plow through Iran - why not just continue to Russia, I mean Haliburton certainly could use more contracts and what's another $500 billion? |
