papananook says: What d'you mean "we", Kimosabe? But he goes on: It used to be that just the so-called "Red States" (come to think of it, the Red-Blue thing was pretty stupid) were allergic to facts. But now it's all of us. We just sit here and take it all in, complain about gas prices when oil companies run the White House, wonder why the airlines are collapsing and there is no transportation alternative: It's the stupidity, stupid! While we were sidetracked by John Edwards' haircuts, the oil companies got Congress to destroy Amtrak for them — Bangladesh now has a more efficient passenger rail system than we do. While we sat transfixed by the magnificence of Angelina Jolie's lips and Britney Spears' shaven crotch, Croatia, Latvia and Albania moved ahead of the United States on the global Environmental Sustainability Index. While we munched freedom fries and stockpiled duct tape, our national treasury was looted. And so on. We the people didn't used to be this dumb. Or maybe we're just stupefied b were allergic to facts.Tell us about it. OK....I totally agree with the 'mood," and reasons for being distressed BUT....(and this is a big theme of mine).. BUT...are you aware that elections are happening? Are you aware that more people have registered to vote then every before? Are you aware that most of these new voters are anti-Bush? So...maybe you are the stupid ones. Wake up and get off your tedious whining, look around you, and maybe join in. At least stop this bullshit of calling everyone else "stupid," acting as if nothing is going on, and acting as if you are the first and only person to now see the light. And...please...let's not next move onto the next depressing discussing that "elections make no difference, blagh... Oh, I'm all TOO friggin' aware of the elections. How can we not be with all the crap that the MSM gives us...not much truth..but whatever--it's a lot of something...I salute your gung-ho election enthusiasm...but I lost mine when the Media and the Dem Party once again ripped off the voters by marginalizing any progressive CANDIDATES WITH BALLS TO REALLY CHALLENGE THE SYSTEM THAT HAS US UNDER IT'S THUMB. You think we're changing anything if the Corporate/military/industrial/congressional complex still rules the economy in 4 years--or even 8? These elections may change SOME things--but i seriously doubt that business won't go on just as it has...I'll be voting and holding my nose all the way--AGAIN!!! i guess i'm officially a curmudgeon. Blagh! Unless you were trying to throw balls into the gutter - how could you actually bowl a 37? |
