Nice clip, wildcat, thanks. The writer T. Boone Pickens is CEO of BP Capital has some interesting leads for the US in this major oil crisis. Important for the US to pay attention to experts and come out of it...

I am completely ignorant on this subject. That said unless I'm mistaken this is the CEO of an energy company saying that there is an energy crisis. I very much doubt the objective of this article is to do anything other than line the man's pockets.

If there's no source it can be disregarded as rumors. If there is a source you have to consider their motivation. Just because something is written does not make it fact, numbers and figures can be smudged and statements can be taken out of context.

Mr. Pickens is to be commended for his serious attempt to reduce dependence on imported oil.

However, we need a renewable energy economy that replaces virtually all of our fossil fuel, not merely 20% of imported crude oil.

Historically, it has taken half a century to integrate a new technology into the American economy. Examples include steam power, steel production, railroads, electricity, autos, airlines.

We don't have half a century before crude oil's impeding depletion creates economic havoc.

In my view, nothing less than an endeavor on the scale of World War 11, can compress the time required to build a renewable energy economy from decades to years.
