kkcapricorn says: In a written statement, Hoyer reiterated that Democratic leaders have decided not to proceed with impeachment and criticized Republican leaders for attempting to force a debate on the resolution.I am trying to understand why the Republicans would want a debate, then I recalled voting earlier today -- Republicans were not referring to themselves as such in local campaign literature -- they referred to themselves as "party for the people" or "The people's Party". Now if they are reading all the statistics, they realize that more than half of the citizens are pro-impeachment. The idiot democrats are ignoring the wishes of the people in effect giving us all the finger. I am thinking what better way for the Republican party to regain face than for them to push the issue. By doing so they greatly distance themselves from Bush & ilk, and show the people that they will adhere to their wishes, while the democrats ignore their constituents. Being a basically honest person, I am not good with strategy, so tell me fellow clippers, am I way off base? The Democrats no doubt have plenty of support, in calling for impeachment, but knowing the nature of politics, there is no doubt a trump the republicans have which can cast doubt on democrat evidence, or draw attention to the democrats that is unwanted. Perhaps there is also the 'nothing to lose' idea where the debate can be used as a platform to incite war. Even a strike on Iran that would make a debate unnecessary. I'm sure if Cheyney had options, he would choose to invade while Bush was President, to load all of the blame on him, and 'start anew' at the next elections, with whatever promises seem right at the time. Planning to shed Bush in the way a Snake shed's it's skin. The Constituti... The Democrats seem scared to make a decision. They have allowed Dick'n'George to ride roughshod over them and, despite the peoples wishes, are scared to impeach. The impeachment would be a form of absolution for the people who feel they have been cowed by the changes since 9/11. I am still amazed that constituents cannot pressure their elected reps to represent their wishes. Once again "rattle those pots and pans". |
