I think Google will die like everything else. It will probably be replaced by something much better.

This may be similar to people worshipping the steam engine when it first came out. Only for it to become dead and dusted, and be replaced by something much better.

So what will be the successor of Google I wonder???

Let the imagination go.

But at the end of the day, none of these manufactured things can ever be better or come close to something that exists without being made or manufactured. And this is what the Creator is. Something existing but has not been made. Awesome !!!

"Such retarded people"

Is this religious intolerance I hear? Be tolerant of my religion if you expect anyone else to be tolerant of yours.

Its better to explain to people why you think they are wrong, rather than to hurl insults. They dont help.

What if I have no religion?

OK, Method-X, take it easy. This is not a place with "intolerance" to any faith or thought. These subjects have been long discussed here and we have no casualties. TheCatWhisperer and Skwirlinator's reaction is not to a particular religion but to the rhetoric you see above.

Ok Ali, since you're a 'thinker' and want an explanation, although invictus did a fine job... you need to try to stick to the topic. In this case - it's about as far from religion as you can get. This isn't a philosophical issue, it's a technological one. Even though there's a possibility of Google dying, as time goes by it becomes more and more evident that you and I will die much sooner.

Google first got the 'eyes', then they got the bucks because of those eyes, now they're buying other companies to help them go higher even faster. They would have to make HUGE mistakes, many of them, to get a major derailment. Microsoft has tried to do a number of things and so far even they couldn...

RS, who says i was talking about blowing up. What you said about Google is right. My only point was that it should not become a GOD that is worshipped. Because a GOD by definition is eternal and doesnt die. But with technological advancement the way it is, everything today is guaranteed to be improved maybe a billion times tomorrow. This is the evolution i believe in. One that is driven by planning and thought, not one that happens by random chance events.

So today the best search system is google. Tomorrow search may no longer be relevant and something else comes in that somehow does away with the need for it. Eg something linked directly to the brain and automatically brings what you are ...

Obviously it was just a play on words to emphasize just how important Google become, even eclipsing the all-powerful Microsoft in some areas. You can't honestly believe someone was writing these words literally.

Google isn't just search anymore, it's also e-mail, IM, chat, calendar, online Office apps, ala Word and Excel... all free, a price that's very difficult to undercut.

Google's still vulnerable, because if Microsoft comes up with a better technology tomorrow for searching - that'll be a major blow to them, but they're not search engine only company any longer. Besides, they just purchased some new search technology from an Israeli student. And search will always be relevant. Wh...
