Not necessarily, tabsey. I happen to know a Layla who was born at least ten years before the song was written. Another example: I've heard people criticizing use of the name "Mercedes" as "naming a girl after a car", without realizing that the car was named after the original designer's daughter.

Layla (spelled Laila just as often here) is a very common name in the country I live. As for the McCain Palin name? Poor kid.
