This is my blog. This is who I am. In Vietnam I was wounded three times. Almost lost my life twice. What I saw in Vietnam mirrors what I see now. The only difference was we were able to get out of Nam. I don't see us getting out of this situation. Not with the warmongers that we have stealing this country for themselves. The truth is obvious to people with common sense.
I just don't see much of that in this country.

And there are people who want to silence you Cptenaud. They want to give, give, give, to those who need it the least and they don't want to give one red cent to our veterans. Then they want to hide behind the wall of "patriotism" and "respect" to push their particular political agenda which is American empire and the virus of imperialism. These people like to say that the world changed as a result of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. It would be more accurate to say that the attacks produced a dangerous change of thinking of some of our leaders, who began to see our republic as a genuine empire, a new Rome, the greatest colossus in histo...

The frightening thing is that cptenaud might be absolutely right: There is more of a 'commitment,' to the wars in the Middle East and more money and special interests behind it.

Cptenaud, the link to your blob was missing and I'm sure we'd all like to get it.

But you said one thing you might want to reconsider: "The truth is obvious to people with common sense.
I just don't see much of that in this country."

The people here commenting, so far, have common sense. The MAJORITY of the nation, over 70% AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!!!! Bush is overwhelmingly unpopular.

So, that's a lot of common sense. The big problem, though, is getting enough votes, getting enough politicians to get serious and chang...

Citizenbfk;
Thank you for your long comment and your thoughts. You probably are right that there are more people with common sense.
But wouldn’t it be nice if they used it. We might have a world that is fair and just. Seems to me we just do what John Lennon did.
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for ...

Wouldn’t it be nice to have the common sense people running the country? But I would wonder. Would power and money corrupt even them?
I think it IS possible such people to reach positions of power (or influence!) and not become corrupt. I'm tired right now and can't think up too many here and now, but a few that come to mind are Princess Diana, Nelson Mandela, The Dalai Lama, Oprah Winfrey and people like that. (I don't think these people could be bought f.ex.) They could potentially have abused their various positions for their own greed and well-being only, but chose to be "good examples" and role models and (IMO) *good people* too. I think it can be done. No-ones perfect, ...

I think it is possible. And may even be happening now.
Didn’t Germany rise from the ashes of Hitler?
I think we will rise from the ashes of Bush. And make more effort to be the nation we thought we were. Sometimes it takes a period of evil to become cleansed.

And I personally like this man from Illinois. Barack Obama

He wasn’t born in Illinois.

What angers me so much about this is that people who were there, inside the Administration, when Bush first took office, have said flat out that the Administration WANTED a war with Iraq, right from the outset. And when 9/11 happened, they IMMEDIATELY started pushing for ways to "justify" attacking Iraq. The assault on Afghanistan - a country whose leaders, the Taliban, actually DID shelter and support Al Qaeda (and thus that government was an entirely legitimate target for us to strike back against) - was an easy war to justify, and once our soldiers were fighting somewhere and people were starting to get used to the idea of soldiers of being in danger, it made it just that much easier to...

I think it IS possible to keep things secret, if they want it enough. I'm not saying they DID, but I think it can be done. The development of the Stealth plane f.ex.and the Manhattan project. That was a HUGE undertaking with many, many people involved, yet they managed to keep it under wraps. Then there's the more if'ish things like the JFK assassination, MK-ULTRA and what do the government know about UFO's and stuff like that. (Roswell f.ex.) They say that astronauts see things up there all the time! I think governments keep more secrets on a lot of things, than we care to think about. Sometimes secrets get out, like Watergate and sometimes they don't and sometimes we'll just never know.

A secret can only be kept if it is known by one person. The more people involved , the more likely to get out. Example Bill Clinton, and Monica Lewinsky. Two people one personal secret. Now Bill wouldn’t want this out, Soooooo I wonder how it got out.

So secrets do get out. Some take a long time. Some are covered up so badly that you don’t know what is up or down. And some we all just want to forget. But history has a great record of many secrets. I believe there is a saying. Truth always comes out in the end!
