But what's this I hear about partisan rancor being bad? If the politicians aren't fighting each other, then you know they're going to be coming for us soon! Look at Japan, where partisan cooperation is so intense, one party dominated the government for nearly 60 years, and let's face it, after a few decades without credible opposition, you can't be blamed for starting to think "aw, to hell with the voters!"
