Oh come on ... what have you got against Steven Segal? Seriously, that's what I thought at first too, but I think this is legitimate. I do know Segal has been a serious, practicing Buddhist for a very long time, though not in a public and flashy way like Richard Gere.

We're not commenting on the religion or its beliefs. We're commenting on Steven Segal being an egotistical jerk. And even so, the Dalai Lama himself has no issue with others examining his faith. Any religion worthwhile can stand up to scrutiny.

Why is it "inappropriate"? Please. Give me a break. If that's what you think, then you might want to stay away from the Internet. You'll find a lot of commenting on religion here.
