rwbehne1 says:
America was founded on Enlightenment principles, not Christian principles.
Americas laws are based not on christian principles, but on Roman Law, and Common Law which was handed down to us from Teutonic pagans! (Common Law existed BEFORE there was any Christianity, as did Roman Law.)

Bad example using Deist as it is Christian in nature:

philosophy and movement that derives the existence and nature of God from reason and personal experience, in contrast to theism (with religions like Judaism, Christianity and Islam) which relies on revelation in sacred scriptures or the testimony of other people. Deism became prominent in Great Britain, France, and the United States in the 17th and 18th centuries and continues to this day in the form of Classical Deism and Modern Deism.

Deists typically reject supernatural events (prophecy, miracles) and tend to assert that God does not interfere with human life and the laws of the universe. Deists commonly reject divine revelation prom...

When Christmas comes around again, don't worry about tacking that day off. I mean if you do not celebrate Christmas then it doesn't matter to you.
This is the day that we the Christians celebrate Jesus's birthday, even though we do not know the true date, that is the day that we celebrate it. If your one of them people that believe in evolution then your scientist haven't explained why there is still monkeys.
Why do Government buildings, shut down for Christmas? Why does the White House get a Christmas tree every year?

I understand how you feel, sort of like an older child who was just told that Santa and the Easter Bunny don't really exist. Such children having strongly believed the myth all their lives react with the same smug hostility toward whomever told them the truth. Please don't smugly tell people what to do, or what they celebrate. You have no idea, your entire mentality being limited to the tiny closet of christianity. Where you are I once was. But unlike you I have grown up and thrown away childish beliefs.
I do celebrate Yuletime, but as a knowledgeable Deist, not as a superstitious christian. To better understand the true meaning of Christmas you need to watch the part 1 of the Zeitgeist m...

Did the book called the Bible excel in purity of ideas and expression all the books now extant in the world, I would not take it for my rule of faith, as being the Word of God; because the possibility would nevertheless exist of my being imposed upon. But when I see throughout the greatest part of this book scarcely anything but a history of the grossest vices, and a collection of the most paltry and contemptible tales, I cannot dishonour my Creator by calling it by his name."

Pane's `Age of Reason' proved the bible to be a forgery, and in over 200 years has never been successfully refuted.

Likewise, no one has ever been able to di...
