A man lays down his life for his country and this man wants to deny him his choice of religion and keep him from using his own religious symbol on his own grave! I can't believe this. Then he whines about not being able to put artificial flowers on a grave. I guess honoring veterans is fine so long as he is able to put cheap flowers instead of the real thing.

Boniface, did you understand what he said? It seems that you are contradicting yourself. The point is that he DOESN'T want the wicca on HIS tombstone, What is wrong with that? He did not say that he was denying anyone the right to put a wicca on their grave.
I am guessing, but I imagine the reason no flowers are allowed on the graves is because of the massive upkeep/removal/etc. of that many such adornments, particularly when a family lives out of town and may not be able to keep the flowers replaced or presentable.
I do not like the wicca being honored in a national cemetery. The occult is not a deity, and there is nothing good or honorable about it.

There are many wonderful and honorable things about wicca. At it's core, it celebrates and honors the world we live in.

America is about freedom of religion. National cemeteries should absolutely carry symbols from the religion of all those buried there.

Let me be the first United States Marine/military veteran to stand up and say "enough is enough" and I hope others follow suit with their convictions and do not bow down to political correctness.
I do believe, sayers, that he's saying exactly that. He would like others to stand up and stop the "political correctness" of allowing all soldiers other than the "correct" ones to have their religious symbol on their headstone.

Quite frankly, he's a disgrace to the very things that he swore to uphold as a member of the U.S. military.

The point, in my opinion, is that the Marine is giving far more weight to grave decoration than the rights of a fellow U.S. military member. It's a shallow point of view.

I never said they shouldn't...just said I don't like wiccan/occult. That is my personal opinion, and as a citizen of America, I still have the freedom to say that. I do not believe a national cemetery should limit what religions can be represented.

sayers, I'll agree with you on that point, though I disagree with your views on Wicca (which is not the same as the occult). Thank you for supporting the right to no Gov't limitations.

I am just wondering when we will see the ACLU sue to have those pentacles removed from Old Glory.

Good one, N2!!!
What about those masonic lodge symbols?? Do they allow those, or is that just public cemetaries? Just wondering...

I do believe they allow Masonic symbols in the military cemetaries. They allow Masonic funerals, so I don't see why not.

So what! I don't like beef and broccoli; no one cares and it has nothing to do with what symbols can be placed on a national grave stone. What this man said was "Why is it that we have to become politically correct in every facet of our life and now every facet of our death?...When do we, as American veterans, stand up and say "enough is enough?" Let me be the first United States Marine/military veteran to stand up and say "enough is enough" ...

Doesn't the masonic symbol include a "pentacle" (5 pointed star) otherwise religiously know as the "Seal of Soloman" (biblical) (Or is that in the women's seal?? I can't remember) (BTW, Occult originally referred to "the unknown, esoteric or mysterious, or that which was hidden" It has only through popular usage taken on the definitions many now give it. I think the word root is from "Occlude" ?? to block the view of.)

The pentacle is the Order of the Eastern Star.
