Eaglewings says: How sad it is to once again see the sacred word of God being depicted as an amusement park attraction. Once was not enough now apparently it is fashionable to create amusement parks in the name of Christianity. I guess this really should not be so surprising considering a good bit of televised religion is nothing more then infomercials and religious entertainment anyway. Perhaps the churches should start charging admission to get inside to witness the great adventures of God up close and personal. Why not just turn the church houses into museums or tourist attractions? Here we have just more of the modern "merchandisers" whom Jesus took a whip to and drove from the Temple, who corrupted the religion, and brought the nation under judgment. Today's coveteous, greedy merchandisers of McChristianity (hirelings in the pulpits) have done the same, bringing the entire country toward the same ruin. What is amazing is that people buy into it. blueridge I could not agree with you more. I guess it is just a sign of the times. The inability for the church to preach the pure word of God without thinking about ways to merchandise it like you so eloquently stated in your comments. Eaglewings, I am in the middle of reading Amish Grace, and I'm learning quite a bit about how the Amish approach their faith. They really take to heart the privacy of worship. To quote an Amish father in the book "We believe in letting our light shine, but not shining it in the eyes of other people." This clip just reminded me of that. bignose that is a great comment but the scripture cited actually says to do just that to let your light shine before men so that they can see your good works and glorify your Father. How else is anyone going to see your light if you hide it under a bushel? How else is anyone going to see your light if you hide it under a bushel?I was thinking more in terms of Matthew 6:1 - 8. Bignose gotcha I can see where you are coming from but when the Amish guy mentioned light I immediately went to the scripture I referred to. But I can see where you are coming from thanks for that clarification. Your comments are always so thoughtful and helpful. It's the largest tax free business on earth. Nothing new. |
