Is that it? just the image? not interesting at all unless there is a link to where the information that went into the compiling of the graph came from.

It of course may be true, or maybe not, at the moment it is worthless.

Yet it is much more information than all the 'suicide epidemic' clips which just list some raw number of suicides without any time restriction and no comparisons or extra data at all. And what extra data they do offer is usually something that isn't a valid comparison. I have often posted on those clips asking for more information, and of course it never came, but I aim to please, so here is the raw data dating back to 1980.

The "suicide epidemic" we hear about appears to have been just another far-left fabrication aimed at demeaning GWB and lowering support of the war.

Without first seeing any statistics on military suicides I would have guessed that they would have been significantly higher during wartime but that does not appear to be the case. I just assumed the stress of combat and being away from home would attribute to a higher than normal suicide rate, glad to see I was wrong.

It seems the single driving force behind all these epidemic myths is nothing but political. The left makes their case against the war and in doing so use the military as pawns in their political agenda once again.

Thx for the link, i notice that the title of the list indicated "active service" deaths, i am not sure what is meant by that in the USA but where i am from it means you are in a combat zone of one sort or another.

I also notice that there was a decline in 95/96 of not only all deaths but also self inflicted deaths. I cannot think what was going on then to cause this decline, but it has remained fairly stable since, and that period of stability is shared by both Clinton and Bush.

Of course there are those that would wish to try and use such data to their advantage , i am wise enough to understand that, but that is not something which is restricted to one side of the political spectrum.

I am pretty sure when they say active service they are referring to anyone who is full time military. This would be anyone in the army, navy, air force, or marines (not reserves). They may include reservists and guard members who are called up to full time too, but I am not sure.

New maths - 6000 divided by 7 equals 160

New maths - 140+160+167+188+150+155=6000
