They should never have sacked her, she was probably making the boring commuting process less boring! In Boston, MA (US) I knew a guy who would do similar things while announcing stops, etc. I found the rides a lot less tedious with bits of humor tossed in. He wasn't fired, just re-positioned, I think promoted even!
